Rugantino to conquer America.

Rugantino was the first Italian musical to have a success in Broadway. A goal that certainly was not easy to export to America, a bold experiment and as Garienei says “similar to trying to sell watches in Switzerland”.
After its debut at the Teatro Sistina in 1962, the musical was such an a extraordinary success that the American theatre impresario Alexander Cohen, decided to take the show overseas.
After a few dates in Toronto, the comedy landed on Broadway in February 1964, at the Mark Hellinger Teatre, where for three weeks in a row was sold out.
In 2010 at the Teatro Sistina, Enrico Brigano took the role that had been played by such famous performers as Nino Manfredi and Enrico Montesano.
Tanks to the incredible success of its edition of Rugantino, Brignano took on the role of the antihero Roman that tours several Italian cities.
